Walking happiness along the Hollandse IJssel

With knapsack and walking shoes, the Hollandse IJsselpad was symbolically opened on 28 April 2022 by the mayors of the Platform De Utrechtse Waarden (municipalities of Montfoort, Oudewater, Lopik and IJsselstein), the high water board of Hoogheemraadschap Stichtse Rijnlanden and the director of the Routebureau Utrecht. A unique 37-km-long path from Het Klaphek in IJsselstein to Gouda. The route is marked, largely unpaved and runs right through nature and past bustling old Dutch towns such as IJsselstein, Montfoort and Oudewater. No fewer than 21 short routes are attached to this new iconic route to tell the story of the Hollandse IJssel. The trail is an experience for young and old. Whether you want to search for historical traces like a detective, prefer to wander through the greenery or go on a safari through the polders. It's all possible!

You can choose from the themes Speuren naar Watersporen, Oer-Hollandse Fatamorgana or Bubbly Poldersafari equipped with route tips. Set off, get to know the regional customs, listen to the stories and make it a unique walking experience!
