This authentic building was designed in 1668 by architect Pieter Post.

Due to the rules for covid-19 the Waag is closed.

The ground floor was used to weigh cheeses, among other things. Today, the Goudse Waag is set up as a Cheese and Craft Museum. It tells about the history of cheese, the products that were weighed and traded here and how cheese is made. VVV Gouda is also located on the ground floor.

De Goudse Waag, a national monument with a very (color) rich history. For centuries a central point in Gouda where you will be warmly welcomed. Today there is still plenty to do. Visit De Waag to find out the secrets hidden in the relief; why, for example, is a man of exotic descent hiding behind a merchant? And do you know the story behind this sentence: "Niet te Hooch. Not at Laech. Van Passe '? Would you like to see how Gouda cheese is made? That is also possible in De Goudse Waag. Do not forget to taste a block of cheese or buy a nice souvenir as a memory of a fun day in Gouda.
