The combination of atmosphere, location and conveniences make it a unique location.
In fact, our loft is located in the back house of the former steam printing works Kock & Knuttel and is a romantic and practical place from which to explore Gouda and its surroundings.
Our house consists of a front and back house. The attic of the back house is a beautiful space of about 40m2, with original beams, lots of light and an intimate atmosphere. There is a sleeping area, a living area with dining table and a simple but well-equipped kitchen (cooker, magenetron, coffee machine, fridge etc). The pretty bathroom has a rain shower, sink and toilet. Besides a double bed, there is also a sofa bed. The beds can be made up with either single or double duvets.
Guest access
Through the monumental hallway and a corridor, you reach the private entrance to the loft.
Interaction with guests
We also live in the canal house ourselves. But because the property has two stairwells, guests and ourselves have plenty of privacy. On the ground floor, we might run into each other. We find this an advantage because it gives guests the opportunity to easily ask questions and we can give tips and information about Gouda and its surroundings if desired.
The neighbourhood
"At Koch&Knuttel" is located on a beautiful quiet canal in the small centre of Gouda. Within walking distance are shops, restaurants, terraces, the St Janskerk, museums and much more. There is a cosy goods market on Thursdays and Saturdays and a brocant market on Wednesdays in the summer months. Gouda is an authentic Old Dutch town in the middle of the Green Heart of Holland. Near Gouda, you can canoe and sail on the Reeuwijkse plassen (lakes). The area is also great for cycling. Bicycles can be rented in the immediate vicinity. The cities of The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht are less than half an hour away by train from Gouda. Amsterdam can be reached within an hour.
Transport options
If you come by train, Koch & Knuttel is about a 10-minute walk away. If you come by car, you can park nearby in a public car park after unloading your luggage. For visitors on bicycles, it is possible to park your bike in the hall.
Other Things
There is a steep staircase that is less suitable for people with mobility problems and children under 4 years old.
Breakfast is not included in the price, but is possible by arrangement.
